BACKGROUND
South Africa has a diverse and outstanding Garden Route, a stretch of 300kms from Tsitsikamma-Storms River in the Eastern Cape to Mossel Bay in the Western Cape with towns such as Knysna, George, Plettenberg Bay,Wilderness. With the second mildest climate in the world after Hawaii, it has a full range of interests to satisfy all kinds of travellers. It offers Adventure sports, sandy beaches, wildlife, exquisite rolling hills, lush scenery, a world class foodie scene with a wine route to rival any in the world.
The Garden Route Wine region has various world-class wine boutiques, vineyards and wine estates across its enchanting coastline waiting to be explored.
Added to our offering are the only two pioneering wine estates of the Eastern Cape, situated in Port Elizabeth and Whittlesea near Queenstown.

GARDEN ROUTE & EASTERN CAPE WINE ESTATES

KAY AND MONTY VINEYARDS
One of the Garden Route's first wine estates to begin planting vineyards. It is award winning with white wine and sparkling "champu" variations something to savour
NEWSTEAD LUND FAMILY VINEYARDS
The Newstead Vineyards are owned by the Lund Family and are a relatively new vineyard to the long history of wine in South Africa. The estate believes in keeping this small because this ensures care and quality for each vine - this is definitely an estate that choses quality over quantity.
BRAMON BOUTIQUE WINE ESTATE
Bramon is a boutique Wine Estate,the first Estate so far East of the Western Cape. Situated in a mountainous area called The Crags, it is the first estate to pioneer vineyards in the Plettenberg Bay area, only 20 km away from the town itself. The previously family-run estate pushed the boundaries of wine-making with their award-winning, non-traditional and traditional Méthode Cap Classique bubblies and still wines, collecting national and international awards.
LODESTONE WINE & OLIVES
Lodestone Wine & Olives is located in the heart of the Plett Winelands producing Chardonnay & Sauvignon Blanc surrounded by the mountains and the ocean.
THAT WINE DEMESNE
That Wine comes from one of the smaller estates in the country. On a little plot of land in The Crags just outside Plettenberg Bay, a total of 5708 vines have been planted on 1.5 hectares. The total production of the vintage for 2018 is 2930 bottles, with both the 2016 and 2017 vintages being sold-out. Your bottle is from the third harvest, so the vines are still young with the stems are thickening well, and the new block is growing apace.
PACKWOOD WINE AND COUNTRY ESTATE
Packwood’s boutique wines were developed by Peter and Vicky Gent in 2006, located at the highest point of the farm 330 metres above sea level the happy vines are planted in a south easterley direction to optimise on air circulation, cool climate varieties were chosen – Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
PLETTENVALE WINES
Plettenvale’s boutique wines are hand crafted with careful attention to detail, producing wines of excellent quality.
Having matured into a fine but tiny estate, they now produce 10000 bottles of wine each year. Their main focus is on their award winning Brut Rosé MCC, the balance spread between Dry Rosé, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah.
LUKA VINEYARDS
uka Wine farm is between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. Luka’s vinification and bottling is done at Bramon Wine Estate under the supervision of wine maker Anton Smal from Villiera acclaim. Anton and Mark are very excited about the diversity of flavours attributed to terroir, climate and good old fashioned care.
HEROLD WINES
The small boutique estate wine farm is situated in a secluded 324ha valley at the foot of Cradock Peak, the highest in the Outeniquas. The first planting of vines – Pinot noir – was done in 1999 and followed by an additional 6ha of plantings of Sauvignon blanc, and small experimental blocks of Chardonnay, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon in 2000 the vineyard grew to 8ha and includes varieties like Weisser Riesling and Semillon.
BOPLAAS FAMILY VINEYARDS
Boplaas is situated in Calitzdorp, a small picturesque village in the Southern Cape in the majestic Little Karoo. The Nel family is part of a rich legacy that reaches back to more than 150 years. Boplaas is a family concern with Carel Nel, a Cape Wine Master, as owner and cellar master.Boplaas has long been regarded as in the forefront in premium wine production.
HOUTBOSCH WINES & CRAFT BEER
Houtbosch is located in the heart of the Garden Route, at the foot of the majestic Outeniqua Mountains. An enthralling tasting room showcasing a visionary range of wine and craft beer.
JAKKALSVLEI PRIVATE CELLAR
This 34ha vineyard is situated 40km from the Indian Ocean at the foot of the Langeberg mountains. The combination of the southern and northern slopes of these mountains allow for the cultivation of quality grapes on the Jakkalsvlei wine farm.
REEDVALLEY WINES
ReedValley offers a unique wine tasting experience in the heart of the world-famous Garden Route, Mossel Bay. At the venue, you can sample exclusive export wines that we expertly pair with traditional Portuguese cuisine.
BALEIA WINES & OLIVE OIL
Situated on the lime rich soils on the cliff banks of the Duivenhoks River, Baleia is a unique terroir standing alone on this beautiful district of the Cape South Coast. A stone’s throw away from Sebastian’s bay and the towns of Vermaaklikheid and Stilbaai. The wines smell of the ocean.
FINE WINES BY MAYIME WINERY
Inspired by its local community, the Fine Wines by Mayime Winery capture the very essence of the beautiful Eastern Cape and the unique, vibrant and colourful culture of its people.
Its the first vineyard in South Africa to produce a community-owned wine, Mayime Winery produces fine wines that embodies the soul of the land and its Xhosa people.
